Scott Creek is a large, swift tributary to the Tuckasegee River. Draining northeastern Jackson County, US 19/23 and Old US 19/23 parallel the creek is for most of its length. The stream passes through many residential areas before entering the urban environment in Sylva and Dillsboro.
Fishing regulations for Mountain Heritage Trout Waters, such as daily creel limits, minimum size limits and lure restrictions, are established by the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission. The 3.25-mile section of Scott Creek from Hospital Rd. (S.R. 1437) to Hometown Place Rd. (S.R.1381) is classifed as the Sylva Mountain HeritageTrout Water and is a Hatchery-Supported Trout
Water with the following regulations:
Open season: 7:00 a.m. on the first Saturday in April until the last day of February.
- No bait or lure restriction
- No size limit restriction
- Seven (7) trout per day creel limit
