Subscriptions

A subscription bills a customer on a schedule. It suits a monthly fly box or a repeating service. It does not, by itself, protect a video library.

General guidance. Fields marked "where enabled" may not appear in your account.

#Before you start

  • A finished storefront. Subscription products are available to every vendor and are chosen when adding a new product.
  • A renewal payment flow that the marketplace has configured. Do not assume any gateway is switched on.
  • A fulfilment plan you can repeat every cycle.

#Steps

  1. Open Add Product and choose a subscription product type. Use a simple subscription for one configuration or a variable subscription for customer choices.
  2. Set the recurring price and interval, for example every month.
  3. State the included quantity per delivery, such as six flies a month, in the title.
  4. Enter shipping data for recurring deliveries. Each renewal is an order you must fulfil. See Orders, Shipping & Payouts.
  5. Write clear cancellation terms: how a customer cancels and what happens to the current cycle.
  6. Explain what happens after a failed payment, in line with marketplace policy.
  7. For choices such as size or fly type, use a variable subscription and follow Variable Products.
  8. Save or submit, then read the public page as a buyer would.

#Example: monthly trout fly box

A recurring delivery stated in full:

Monthly Trout Box: six hand-tied flies chosen for the month, shipped around the first week. Billed every month until cancelled. Cancel any time before the next renewal. Payment failure pauses the delivery until the account is updated.

#A paid video library is a different job

Billing alone does not secure content. A protected library needs a compatible content-access, membership or learning-management workflow, plus suitable video hosting. An unlisted public video link is not protection, because anyone with the link can share it.

WooCommerce documents content restriction that can be combined with subscriptions; that is the pairing to ask the marketplace about.

#Lifetime access or active subscribers only

Decide explicitly. Lifetime access means paying once keeps access forever. Active-subscriber access ends when billing stops. Say which in the listing.

#Two different memberships

A vendor membership fee is what a seller might pay to be on the marketplace. A customer content membership is what a buyer pays for your material. They are not the same thing.

#Subscriptions share your existing storefront

All vendors can create subscription products. Select the product type in Add Product; you do not need a separate subscription storefront. Your store can offer recurring products alongside simple, variable and booking products.

#What this page does not promise

No activated payment gateway, and no payout timing, is implied. Ask the marketplace about both.

#Troubleshooting

No subscription type appears.

Subscription products are available to all vendors. Check Products → Add Product. If the expected type is missing, contact marketplace support to investigate rather than changing your storefront.

A renewal failed.

Follow marketplace policy. Do not ship until the order is paid.

Customers can watch after cancelling.

Your video is probably not behind an access rule. See the video library section above.
