Shipping

You package and ship your own products. Give buyers realistic handling times, keep shipping data accurate, and record tracking when your dashboard supports it.

General guidance. Fields marked "where enabled" may not appear in your account.

#Before you start

  • Read the marketplace’s Shipping & Returns policy. Shipping times, carriers and charges vary by vendor.
  • Have packaged weight, dimensions, supported destinations and a realistic made-to-order lead time ready.
  • This guide explains the workflow; it does not enable a carrier, shipping zone or label service.

#Steps

  1. In your product listing, confirm whether anything is physically shipped. Do not mark a physical fly box, print or shirt as virtual.
  2. Enter the product’s shipping weight, dimensions and shipping class where available. Check the store’s unit settings before entering numbers.
  3. Open Settings and select Shipping. Configure only the methods or rates available to you. Marketplace-wide WooCommerce zones and tax rules are controlled by the merchant.
  4. Write the handling time on the listing, separately from the carrier’s estimated transit time. Explain made-to-order or personalized-item lead times before purchase.
  5. Ask the merchant to check checkout rates for representative destinations and a multi-vendor cart. Do not promise a flat rate or free shipping until checkout supports it.
  6. After an eligible order arrives, pack securely, buy a label through your available service, and enter carrier/tracking details where enabled.
  7. Update fulfillment status when the package is actually dispatched—not when tying or packing starts. Handle delays and delivery problems through the marketplace.

#Example: made-to-order fly box

Separate preparation time from delivery time. This wording is illustrative, not a marketplace-wide promise:

Tied to order. Usually dispatched within five business days. Shipping charges are shown at checkout; carrier transit time starts after dispatch.

#What the vendor and merchant each control

  • Vendor: honest lead times, correct physical-product data, safe packing, shipment and tracking.
  • Merchant: available shipping integrations, zones, vendor permissions and how checkout calculates rates.
  • A paid order does not mean a shipping label has been created. Do not assume every vendor has access to WooCommerce label tools.

#Flat rate, free shipping and mixed carts

Flat rate is a configured checkout method—not text added to a product description. If the Shipping tab is blank or your desired method is absent, ask the merchant to review WC Vendors shipping configuration and permissions.

Verify how quantity, shipping classes, destinations and items from multiple vendors affect the charge. A free-shipping offer must state its conditions and match the enabled checkout rule.

#Services, subscriptions and delivery problems

A trip, lesson or cabin reservation uses booking instructions rather than parcel shipping. Physical subscription boxes still need shipping and fulfillment for each recurring shipment; see Subscriptions.

Keep the tracking record and relevant buyer messages. Report missing, damaged or incorrect items promptly; Returns & Cancellations explains the resolution process. Do not make a customer’s address or order details public.

#Troubleshooting

The Shipping tab is empty.

This may be a configuration or permission issue. Ask the merchant to check the vendor shipping integration and enabled methods; do not invent a rate in the description.

Checkout charges the wrong amount.

Check units, packaged weight/dimensions, class, destination and quantity. The merchant should inspect the configured rate rules and mixed-vendor cart behavior.

I cannot see a label or tracking tool.

The tool may not be enabled for your account. Use the marketplace-approved fulfillment method and contact support.
